You are viewing: Wallace F Brown
Whilst at school Wallace F Brown won prizes for drawing and watercolour painting. He studied medicine and qualified at Queen's University Belfast, spending most of his professional life in the English Midlands. He now paints full time.
Watercolour is his first love – firmly rooted in the impressionist style of Hercules Brabazon Brabazon, John Singer Sargent, Philip Wilson Steer, Edward Seago and Edward Wesson. He was friends with Wesson and attended his classes. At an exhibition following Wesson's death in 1983, 'Dickie' – Wesson's widow – congratulated him saying "Edward would have been pleased to see you carrying on the tradition. Good luck!".
Like Wesson, he also paints in oils and his paintings are in collections in Japan, Australia, the USA, France and the UK. He organises painting gatherings in Wiltshire, the Lake District and Southport.
